Belly Button Piercing (as if the subject hadn't been beaten to death)
Well I got it pierced 2 days ago and it is red around the area on both sides and a bit itchy. I was hoping the itching is a good sign, possibly a sign that it's starting to heal. It's a bit puffy near the piercing but no ooze or anything aside from an extremely minute amount of white discharge. It isn't really hot to the touch and I try to move the circular ring around about once ever few hours so that my skin doesn't try to heal around it. I wash my hands before I touch it and it isn't terribly painful. The only thing I'm really concerned about is the slight puffiness. I've been washing it about 3-4 times a day with dial antibacterial. Should I be concerned or does everything seem to be on the up and up? How long should I expect the redness and is the puffiness something I should be concerned about or just ignore for the time being?

I would call the person who did your piercing and ask them. They would be able to give you the best advice.

I had mine done about 6 years ago. It's going to be a bit red for a while. The itching is a sign of it healing. I used liquid dial to wash and Bactine (which comes in a squirt bottle). That did the trick for me. Definitely make sure to turn the ring when you wash it and when you use the bactine to make sure you get all the bacteria out. Try really hard not to mess with it too much other than when you are washing, or it will get aggrevated and become more red and painful. Make sure that you are still washing just as often for at least the next two to three weeks, then about twice a day after that. Most people stop taking good care of it after it stops hurting, but it will still be healing for at least the next 6 months.
