I saw a movie back in the early 80's, I believe it may have been a Disney movie, where indians attacked a farm and stole a young girl. After recoverinf her brother goes after the indians to find his sister. He asks people if they have seen the indians and describes jewelry they were wearing. He finds and old indian who had his tongue cut out who recognizes the jewelry and informs the boy where to go.
The boy finds the tribe and his sister. She is betrothed to one of the indians. He is told the only way for him to save his sister is to run a course over the rugged terrain before liquid gold runs down through a track into an etching of the sun (I think it was a sun). Anyway, when the gold reaches the end of it's path the indian will shoot the hooded girl with an arrow. If he succeeds in running the course in time I believe he would be able to take her place being killed and she would be taken home.
The boy runs the course and is seconds away from finishing when the gold finishes its course and the girl is killed, her body falling back over a cliff.
The twist to the story is the sister of the indian took the place of the sister and the boy and his sister get to go home.
There is a lot more back story, the boy talking with the indian sister, the reunion of the boy and the sister when he finds the indians, etc. But I have given most of the story that someone might know the movie and the name of it.
