My first period kits?
Does anyone know where I can purchase a 'my first period' kit for my daughter? Her doctor says she could start any time now, and I have made sure that she is educated on what will happen to her body.
But I also want to make sure its an age appropriate kit for her. She is 8 and we have not gone into sex at all. The extent of her knowledge is that married mommies and daddys kiss naked in bed. And she calls it 'naked kissing' which came from walking in on me and my husband when she was 5 lol.
So I would like to find a kit that does NOT include the sex part of her period. But the only ones I can find, DO include sex information.
If worse comes to worse I can buy her one of those and remove the sex information.

What would be in the kit? All I got was a sanitary napkin handed to me.

J is right -- buy a cute cloth or vinyl bag with a Velcro or drawstring closing and fill it with useful stuff.

I was thinking about making my own. I just worry about that because I'm not very creative or good at making stuff lol.
WG, basically it would be a little pamphlet or book about the changes, some pads and panty liners, personal wipes, maybe some Tylenol or midol (depending on the age, I'm not positive if she can take midol yet, I would have to look it up) and one kit I saw had a little reusable heating pad in it. And then a carrying case for your stuff so that no one at school suspects you are carrying pads lol.

Always ask a librarian for help. And you can use a bag of your choice (not one so obvious).

Hey instead of making a whole new thread, I wanted to ask, can I use Epsom salt on aylas eczema? Her eczema rash is broken skin, and I was leery about it, but I the bag of Epsom salt doesn't say anything about broken skin. We are moving to a house in the next few weeks, and even though she is excited, her anxiety level is high and its making her have a flare up (first time in a long time lol)

Not meaning to be a little off topic, re-read about 1000 questions on here about sex and you will see it is getting more and more common for the 11 and 12 year olds to be sexually active. And they are the ones that ask if they can be pregnant from oal sex and more.
Would you rather she learn about sex in the school from friends playing "doctor" or the real facts from you.

That is true chuck. Ive been struggling with this for a few years now. My biggest fear, is with the way her mind works, if she knows what it is, she will want to try it. But I know that's a cop out lol. I'm just so afraid. She is so malleable that all it would take would be a 'friend' to say 'hey lets try this' and she will without even thinking about it.
I'm trying so hard to find the balance. I want to keep her safe, but I know I can't shelter her from everything. And she will be 9 next week!! She is so close to the age where I am not going to be able to shelter her from ANYTHING anymore. :(
She knows about drugs, and alcohol, and peer pressure, and gangs, and guns. But sex is the one thing I am having a LOT of trouble with.

No it is fine, I have 4 grown boys and a 11 soon to be 12. In the past two weeks, I have had 4 girls wanting to see my son. One bothered my wife to death at the part, as to where he was.
* These girls are all several years older than him.
There are many age proper books out there.
