Could be loose neutral(s), hots, buss or breaker connections. I would measure at the Panel, and go upstream or downstream, depending on the results.

The lights getting bright, and the fan running faster is an indication of a loose neutral.

I must suggest you do not operate these appliances until the problem is found and repaired.

I have had units such as bathroom exhaust fans burn up, smoke, etc. due to a loose neutral condition.

I will assume you have no knowledge of working on electrical wiring, and need to call in a professional.

Do this ASAP. This is not a DIY project.

New lighting fixture; Bulb burning dim... [ 7 Answers ]

I just installed a new ceiling fan/light fixture. The instructions say maximum bulb to be used is candellabra-style 60W. I've tried 40W and 60W. Both seem to be far too dim for their respective wattages. What could be going wrong. FYI: the fan works perfect at all 3 speeds. Thanks.

Recessed lighting is dim when it works [ 1 Answers ]

I did some remodeling in my living room (tore out a wall to open it up a bit) and decided that I needed some more light. So I installed 3 recessed lights going down the middle of my ceiling. I ran these three lights to an existing switch box. I connected the lights in series to make things...
