    Hi Dyldansgram

Your title mentions check valves? Why? Check valves aren't involved with shower systems.

Now, you installed a single handle shower valve and only have a trickle of water, right? If this so, it can only occur as a result of a few things... ;)

    1) It could be that both the hot or cold water aren't turned on fully. Here, if the hot and cold water are both not fully turned on the PRESSURE BALANCING MECHANISM in the valve won't allow the water to flow from either side... will result in a "trickle" of water. A clogged shutoff from the hot or the cold water would also do this to you.

    2) The valve could be clogged with sediment. Here, you would pull the cartridge out and then turn the water flow on for a second or two to clear the lines of sediment/debris. Re-install the cartridge and that would resolve this issue.

    3) If your valve has internal shutoffs you need to be sure they are open wide (could these be the checkvalves?). Here, open the screw heads counterclockwise to open fully.

    4) Could be that you OVER soldered a fitting and closed off the pipe/fitting. Here, this happens sometimes to people that haven't soldered a lot. You would pull the cartridge and check water flow out the hot and then the cold individually to be sure water is flowing from each side of the pipe.

    5) Could also be a defective cartridge/shower valve, but this is pretty rare!

Check out these things and then pop back and let me know how you made out, O.K?
