    Vetrans benefits
    Hello my question is,if I have only completed basic traing and ait. Will I be able to receive any assistance? Am I still considered a vet? Im discharged under other then honorable dischagre. Re code4 from an awol. Would I qualify for any benfits or assistance?

    I don't know where you are from but in Canada, unless you have seen active service, put your foot on a boat or plane in pursuit of active service, you can't collect benefits, but even so, you haven't seen active service, have you ? If not, no benefits. After all, you were AWOL; were you not serious about your involvement?

    If you are in the US, you are not considered a vet simply because you finished basic and AIT. Since you were AWOL, you chose to give up your benefits. You're lucky you haven't been formally charged.
