    Abandoned Mobile Home - Mississippi
I allowed a family member to place their mobile home on my property and live there rent free. They have since moved out with no forwarding address and will not return phone calls. What are my legal options regarding the removal and/or sale of the mobile home?

    How long? What phone where?
You first need to find out if it's a 'vehicle' under DMV jurisdiction or not. Get the number off the ID plate and contact the DMV or look on their web site. Then ask your local police non emergency number what the local abandoned vehicle laws are, if it's a vehicle (usually 30 or 60 days). Then send your family member a certified letter/return receipt requested demanding removal, even if the only known address is yours. State that charges for storage/rental of the land will commence in 30 days from the postmark on the letter.
If it's a mobile home with a deed, all you can do is charge land rent and eventually file a lien on it at the deed office. It is going to take a long time and won't be easy.

    Thank you.
