    Toe nails
My mom and I are going to get pedicures in a week. I thought it would be a nice treat for her and me. Well, as it turns out, she said that she has some sort of toenail problem. She said that both or her big toe nail and 1 or 2 or her small ones are whiteish yellow from the top of the nail to the middle. Is there anything that she can do to get rid of it by next week? Can she even get a pedicure with it?

    Hi Kcoyle,
I'm not sure, but this could be a fungal infection of the nail. If so, coating the affected nails with tea tree oil over a period should kill the fungus quite readily, but the only way to rid the nail of the discoloration would be for it to grow out. If this is the cause it is likely they would want to avoid working on those particular nails at the very least.

This will not be cured by next week. I had not heard of tea tree oil but Vicks vaporub does work. Coat the nail daily for 6 monthsand it will grow out as good as new.

I agree that the pedicure is out for the time being. Your Mom does need to see her doctor, as fungal infections can be tough to treat and they do require a longer treatment time.

Looking for sheetrock nails that don't rust! [ 7 Answers ]

I've installed quite a bit of sheetrock, and it seems that the nail heads always eventually rust, when located near a shower or tub. The screws do a much better job, but it sure seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to manufacture an aluminum alloy nail that would not rust. I've looked for...
