12 year old Yorkie Relieving in the House
My 12 year old Yorkshire Terrier has recently began to crap in my Mom's house. He is very house broken and hasn't done this since we trained him. What worries me the most is the stool itself. Its not very solid, and not the usual brown either. A tint between brown and green if you would allow me some TMI.

At first we thought it was just him acting out since my sister left for college but its been happening very frequently. I don't live with my mother so I don't know how often its happened but I myself have witnessed two times and Ive come to my Mom's house to see several spots on the carpet recently cleaned.

We tried keeping him in the laundry room where he sleeps to see if once again its an obendience problem but he's done it in there too; And Ive heard dogs don't crap where they sleep. So of course it concerns me. My sisters changed his diet from the usual Kibbles and Bits to some Beneful version and we're hoping that's it. But Im still concerned. Could it be something other than his diet? Is it because he's older? This is my family's first dog so we do not know much.

Also, my family isn't as financially abundant as we could be and if we could give our dog the best care without having to swallow a rather expensive vet bill then we would very much appreciate any welcome advice!

And you have had this pet for the whole l2 years? No, dogs won't do their business where they sleep, but if it's a big area he is doing it away from where he sleeps if he has no choice.

Older dogs can have problems but usually try to maintain good habits, so you can't rule out a medical issue, so its time for a visit to the vet. A 12 year old dog can be have incontinence issues same as an older person.

Can your mom try to get him out at regular times during the day so he can do his business outside ? Is he getting outside at all ? Yes, changing his diet could be the problem. Why was his food changed?
