    Well pump breaker won't trip.
Our well pump's breaker has been tripping once or twice a week. Just enough to be annoying, but not enough to worry about.
Tonight it tripped so I reset it. It tripped again within 5-10 seconds so I reset it again. A third time it tripped, again within 10 seconds, but this time when I reset it, the water did not come back on.
When I checked the breaker, it was still in the "ON" position. Leaning on the side of caution I turned the breaker "OFF" and left it.
From the other answers I've read it sounds like the pump may be too shallow in the well, the well may be going dry, the pressure tank could have a leak, or there's a short in the wiring somewhere.
My biggest question is should I leave the breaker in the "OFF" position, or does it really matter?

I would leave the breaker off until the pump system can be inspected to determine what is the exact problem.
