    Legal cause
I have lived in my apartment for over one year without any lease agreement or month to month agreement. A month to month has been presented to me recently however the apt that I live in including the building needs lots of work. I don't mind being on a month to month however the amount per month and the added deposit amount the owner is asking is way more than its worth with all the repairs needed and what the building has been appraised/ worth for its area. I am looking to move right away. The manager has given me a week to move. What can I do. I need more time.

You are already on a month to month, just verbal, not written.

He can not evict you in a week. Depending on where he lives, he will have to give you a written notice from 15 days to 30 days. To move.

If you are not moved, he will start eviction proceedings against you in court.

He may, with normally a 30 day notice on a month to month rental ( you are on moth to month) raise or change the rent. I do not beleve they are allowed to ask for additional deposit unless you have added a pet or other liability. ** may differ in some ares.

It varies from State to State - if you are in the US.

You ARE a month-to-month tenant (written agreement or not) and you have to be evicted according to State law.

Thank you! Most people don't "bother" coming back, let alone say thank you.

Please come back and let me know how this plays out.
