If the panel door of my air handler is not closed properly, will the unit freeze up
I cleaned the drain line on my Grand air unit and the panel door was ajar. By the end of the day the coils had frozen

Yes, it will do that. Close the air handler properly. If the ice build up has not melted and this is a heat/cool unit turn to heat for a short period to melt the ice and then revert to cool.
