How do I find my birth father?
How do I find a birth parent. I was raised by my biological mother but my father was never in the image. I am now 18 years old and feel like finding my father is something I want to do before one of us dies. I know his full name but this is it.
I question my mother about him and his where abouts but she doesn't tell me anything and I don't understand why.

With the little of information I know about my father is it impossible to ever find my dad? I'm not or never have been adopted and am intrested in knowing who makes up the other half of my twin brother and I.

Any help would be great, thanks!

If the name is not very common, you start by using one of the online people searches. You can also hire a PI, Is mom just not telling you the facts about him ?

If you know where you were born, you can start there and check online to see if anyone by that name still lives in the area who is about the right age. If there were any court proceedings, they might have his social security number on them or other identifying information like his birth date, or where he worked. If you know what he does for a living, you can Google his name and profession - just trial and error.

Your mother may know where his family live, like a sister or his parents or something - you might be able to find him through them.

There can be all kinds of directories for different groups of people. For example, you could Google his high school and graduating year and there might be a directory that he's listed on. Or if he's in a trade that might have a union, they might have a directory of members. Your mom can probably fill in more information and hopefully she'll help you.

There are investigators who will search for you, but you do have to pay them and I don't know if you have the resources to do that.

I have a similar scenario. I never knew my birth father, although I was adopted and raised by the man my mom married. My biological father's name is really common. However, finally when I was in my 30s my mother told me all the details she knew. It turned out that she was just ashamed that she had gotten pregnant without being married. She just wanted me to be happy with my dad and not be disappointed with the biological father I would met. I still haven't met him. The process has been long. I used several online people searches including PublicData.com. The subscription is not too expensive. It will search all states. Some by name, date of birth, and even crimnal records.

I haven't hired a PI, yet. I don't know a reputable one. Plus, I am beginng to run out of steam. And may just give it up entirely. I just wish I could have his medical history at least.

    Good luck to you!
