I am a widow at age 45, how does social security and pensions work
My husband died at age 45. I got social security money for our son who was 16 till he graduated from high school. I went back to work and make good money. When I retire, will I get his pension, or my pension, or both or whichever one is higher. I was offered a pay out for his pension or told I could wait 19 years and get 2000 dollars a month. The pay out was low. I am concerned that I will miss out on that money though, because I make decent money, not as good as his salary but not bad. Would it benefit me to work as long as I can. Any advantages to retiring early. What happens if I remarry to the pension? Thanks,kt
