Honda 3013 rider - Engines stalls when try to engage PTO lever
Hi,
Just purchased used Honda 3013 rear engine rider. Right off bat replaced the neutral safety switch under seat as engine would stall when moving transmission either forward or reverse (would idle in neutral ok). Now that I can go forward or in reverse, when I try to engage the PTO lever the engine stalls. Is there another safety type switch that needs to be replaced or is it something else??
Thanks for advice,
dmnatherr

Hi,
There is of course a switch in the seat itself that indicates to the machine that the operator is indeed on the machine. There is also a brake on the deck's spinde.
Peace,
Clarke

Hi Clarke,
Thanks for the response. Not sure what you mean by a brake on the deck's spindle?? How do I check to see if this brake is on?? Also, wanted to point out when I went to move the mower back to the shed, the engine would stall when attempting to go either forward or backwards (what is was doing before replacing the seat safety switch)... Not sure what the issue is now. Is there any way to bypass all these safety switches on the 3013??
Thanks, Dennis

Hi,
It is not advisable to bypass switches, I rarely will and I have worked on this type of equipment for over 35 years. There is also a switch on the parking brake that usually sets off a beeper/alarm but can also kill the engine if not working and machine is moved out of neutral. Here is a link to the owners manual:

And I will give pictures of the blade brake and park brake lever. The #1 is the magic number in all cases. Two different blade brakes are possible and the switch has one variety and all are #1.
Peace,
Clarke
