Stepfather..
Here is my situation I have to children from 2 different men my 4 year old daughter has not seen her in 3 years and does not pay child support my husband (not father to either of them) would like to adopt her. I asked her bio father he said no what do I do? The second case my son who is 3 there has never been a father around, I do not know his last name ( as has as that sounds I was a dumb teenager) I called him when my son was born but wanted no part of being a father. How does my husband ( who has provided for my children for 3 years) adopt them?

You start by getting an attorney. You need an attorney to prepare the adoption petition. The attorney can advise you of what needs to be done to a) notify both fathers or attempt to and b) get the father's rights terminated.
The courts are predisposed to a two parent family situation. So, if you can prove that it is in their best interests for your husband to adopt (which shouldn't be hard) the courts will grant the adoption over the father's objections or inability to be found. |
