    Wife caught shoplifting
    Hello,

Recently my wife got caught under shoplifting, they called the police and the police fined her 20,000 (twenty thousand) dollars. Can any one help me out to come out of this incident smoothly. I came here on a project for some time and I do not have much money with me. She also carried my son (3+ years) along with her, so does he also have any problem. Is there any chanse to reduce the fine and what are societies or organizations can help me out.

    Regds,
    Harris.

    Regds,
    Harris.

Got caught shoplifting in Canada? And the fine was $20,000?

I'm having difficult with that. What were the circumstances?

No, a 3-year old cannot have criminal intent BUT she could lose custody for irresonsible behavior in the presence of a child.

    Adding to the previous narration.
Actully when she was caught by the security, they have verified the videos of past and told that she went there a 2 days ago also and thefted a strawller. So police have fined telling that for stealing 2 times (5000*2) and retaining the goods with her (5000*2) so they made twenty thousand dollars as the total fine.

    Hello JudyKay Tee,

Thank you so much for your reply...
She was thefting some cosmetics and women wear when she was caught. Then they also have a video recording when she was thefting a baby stroller (2days ago).

Actually I give money to her and even my credit card also. When caught the police also told you were carrrying good amount of cash and stealing thing... Ok, any way happened is happened. I am really ashamed. But now I want to come out of the situation smoothly.

I have no idea what you mean by coming out of this smoothly. She will have a criminal record. If she is not a citizen she can (and possbly will) be deported. In Canada theft in the presence of a child brings Child Protective Services into the matter. Her fitness as a parent will be reviewed and evaluated.

I would retain a really good Attorney. Your wife also apparently has some issues and should see a therapist. She sounds like she steals frequently.

How does she explain any of this?
