    Friend problems
    For the past five years it was my boyfriend and I hanging out. Last December one of his past high school friends, James asked us to hang out with him. Since then we hanged out with three new friends almost every weekend. Everything was great then Paul would constantly talk crap about James. Most of the time it is trivial things, like how he hates when James says he wants to join a gym but never does, or how James hates silence, or how James fumbles with the radio. At one point we ended up excluding James on outings. I’m getting tired of hearing this nonsense. Paul is not a real friend. I guess I agreed with him because I wanted my boyfriend’s friend to like me. I would humor him because I related to him; we both don’t drive and depend on others. Should I tell James what is going on? Should I stop hanging out with them? Should I confront Paul and ask what his deal is? Paul is nice to me but this is getting old.

    Okay, I am confused. Which one is your boyfriend and which one is the friend? James or Paul?

    Neither. My boyfriend and I became friends with Paul and James. James is my boyfriends old high school friend. We met Paul trough James. I assumed they were great friends but Paul constantly talks trash about James to me.
