Until you have MISSED a period most tests are unreliable at best, so you need to wait..

So why has it been confirmed at the doctors then surely they wouldn't confirm it if that was the case

You need to wait about 2 weeks and test again, just to be sure. ** assuming you don't get a period.
And? You took a sample in ? You did not just give a sample at the doctor??
The doctor did not do a blood test to confirm ?

If they merely did a test, just like you did at home, they confirmed what they saw, but that type of test if not 100 percent. They will have to do a blood test to CONFIRM for sure.
While a false Positive is not common, it is possible.

Sorry to make you worry, how many "tests" have you done,
But a false positive is rare, so you would have to have some other medical issue causing it at this pont
My guess is that you are, but jumping the gun on midwife appointment. But if I were to guess, I would say you are also, I just can't stay yes 100 percent due to th earliness of this.

Also make me one promise, as my guess is you are.
Post back here during your pregnancy and let us know how things are going, and post a photo of the baby when born.

I took a HPT the day after my missed period and it was positive. It was a digital first response. The next week I took 3 more tests and all were negative. I still have symptoms and I am now 2 weeks late on my period. I have a doctor's visit scheduled for the day that I would be 4 weeks late.
