    I have a felony coming
I just turned 21 in July and a rising senior in college and I'm about 90% sure I'm going to get charged with a class 6 felony by the end of the year... I am scared less what I'm going to do with my life since I've been reading horror stories about what a felony can do to someone. I have my who life to live and beacuase of one mistake I made it looks like I'm going to lose it all..

I've read that felonys can never be exponged, you cannot travel to certain countries, you cannot vote and pretty much every other terrible thing... Does anyone have any ideas of what jobs I can look into while having this felony? I'm studying political science but I'm sure anything in politics and government is out of the question now.

    Any ideas would be great.

Plenty of felons in politics, but what did you plan on doing ?

First being charged is not convicted, have you already hired an attorney ? Don't say a word if arrested , except get my attorney. The police can and do lie to you, They can lie about evidence, lie about what will happen to you, they can lie about getting you off and so on.

Only the DA office can make any real plea deals

    So rule 1, an attorney.

Next charges is not convicted, so a lot can happen,

What type of crime is it, you are vague about what you did, and why it is going to take so long to charge you.

It depends on where you live, in most places felonies can be explunged, after 7 to 10 years.

Ah, I mispoke... I have been charged and I am 90% sure I'll get convicted of possion since I spoke to the police without an attorny present and screwed myself... I have never had so much as a parking ticket so I didn't know what to do and the police said a bunch of stuff that made me think they were going to go easy. Boy was I wrong!

It was three videos of child pornography that I downloaded when I was in high school which was on an external hard drive and friend (or I thought a friend) found it and told a few people at my school and it ended up working its way up to the school administration and they had to call it in.

I live in Virginia and Virginia seems to be one of the hardest states when it comes to child porn even if it haden't been viewed in years. So I'm sort of fighting an uphill battle and the lawyer seems to think I will get at least one count of possession.

Do you have an attorney yet ? Checking out if they had proper warrants for the searches, if they had probable cause to get a warrant if they did. But yes you broke all of the good rules of being arrested.

This is a hard crime, and it would have been better to be drugs or robbery even when people are doing a background search.

Has your attorney tried to work out any type of plea deal. Esp one that will keep you off the sex offenders list.
