I am very new to this. I do not know if this will help but I will give it a shot. I feel that I need to speak to the world about my problems and receive help.

The relation between my father and I is very distant. Although we live in the same house, we don't seem to communicate well. I only talk to him when I'm in the need of something... like money. I know he loves me and he tries hard to fulfill my needs. My parents are not divorced... when you take a look at our family... anyone can say that we are happy with each other. But when you get closer to our family, you will see that my mother and I are burning with no one to reach for help.
My father is a very short tempered man. He owns 2 businesses and works all the time. He comes home at night and spends about 3 hours with us and goes to sleep. He only provides us with money and a good house to live in.
When he gets off from work for holiday, all he does is watches TV and sleeps. He doesn't talk to me or my mom. He will only come out of his room to say a few words, and go back to watch TV.
Sometimes when he gets mad, he loses his sense. He will get pissed off at the smallest matter and start an argument with my mother. He even abuses her by slapping and kicking. I quickly go and separate them and receive a few punches and slaps myself. But I do not give up. Once he is calmed down, him and mom don't talk for days.
My mom is short tempered too. She is a housewife and does all the chores in the house. She cusses from time to time but still keeps the house alive. She is a very loving, extra-caring, and funny person.
I don't know what do with my father... I have no relation with him and in a couple of years I will go to college. I don't want to create any scene, because I want a loving family. I want my parents to be kind with each other and be supportive towards me and my brother who is only 3.
Sometimes I can lose my temper too when my father attempts to abuse my mother. But the only thing that holds be back is the fact that he is my father. I don't want to hurt him and do something that involves violence.
PLEASE HELP ME. Please tell me what I can do to stop the violence. Even if I call up the police and have him taken away, how will I get support to run the house? Where will my mom get the money to feed us and my little brother?
I don't want to talk about this with anyone in person. I don't want people to show pity for us.

Unfortunately in these kinds of situations you have to stand up and be a man and protect your little brother. Your mom is a grown woman and can defend herself or at least remove herself from the situation. You on the other hand should really talk to a school counselor or someone you can trust about this matter. I know you want to protect your mom, but as I said she can protect herself. You really need to focus on your little brother. You are old enough that you can take some responsibility and speak out about what is going on at home. As you mentioned, you will be leaving for college soon, but your little brother still has a lifetime of this. If you want to protect him, you need to act soon. Don't be afraid to talk to someone.

Wow, I am 14 and in the same situation (without the physical abuse). For me though, my 9 yo sister and him get along very well and they sometimes gang up on me. Good luck! Sorry I don't have any advice for you really!
