Help on obtaining high school diploma!!
Im 22 years old and didn't receive my high school diploma because I was missing half of an elective credit. Is there any way I could earn my diploma instead of a GED?

Why... takes more time then you want to take? You are now 22... most people graduate at 17 or 18, so 4 years later it becomes important to you?

Just take the course you need for the GED and get it...

Depends on your School District - you can in my District. You'd have to call and ask.

Great that you're going back - have you any idea what you are going to do after that?

If you can't, don't be discouraged. I got my GED when I was 23 just so I could say I had it, and in case I wanted to go to college down the road. 9 years later, I make just as much money as (and in most cases, more than) everyone I know with a diploma.

Thanks judykaytee; I'm planning on going to school for nursing, I waited long after high school because I was having some problems and I have a daughter

If you have to go back... its one course... should be fairly quick.

Finding it odd that you could miss a graduation for an elective alone... I had taken nearly every elective course available by my Senior year and had several study halls a day because I already took eveything optional. And I was in College Prep back then. I had way more credits than needed for graduation...

Good for you - that's a good profession, always jobs (although, of course, it's stressful and the hours suck).

It will certainly enable you to take good care of your daughter.

I honestly admire you - J9 (who posts here) went to Nursing School as an adult. I've always thought how great that is!

Baby patty do whatever it takes to get ahead. You picked a wonderful profession, but you have a long road ahead of you. Our J9 is a good example of perseverance!

Please come back and tell us of your progress!

Ask your school district (issuing the diploma) if they will let you waive the elective or take it as an independent study.
