    Toilet (overflow tube) runs continuously
I replaced the flapper a week ago as water was trickling continuously. All has been working well since then until today when the water gushes continuously from the overflow tube (arrow is pointing to it in my diagram in case I've called it the wrong thing). I'm a complete novice with home repairs - what can I try?

The white tube should be going into the overflow pipe. The float should be adjusted so water shuts off when water is about 1/2'' below top of tube.

Chuck is right!! Move tube to other side so the clip is on the outside and white tube on the inside. Looks like water level is too high also, move float down a bit by compressing the small metal clip. Easy fix.
