Negative test

Well I posted earlyer but my period was 7 days late and I stated to bleed light bright red and slight cramping and I took a test and came out negative can that mean its my period or that there could be a chance I'm pregnant. What also confuses me it's that I'm always on time for my period and this month I wasn't and my cycle is 34 days? I'm confused... could it just be my period or pregnancy
