I replaced the bulbs still don't work
It has been suggested that brake switch may need to be replaced
If the what I call the safety light in the back window comes on when pressing the brake does that mean the brake switch is working

Look at the brake arm for a switch, unplug and insert a jumper wire, if the brake light turns on, the Brake switch is not making contact and needs to be adjusted or replaced, If the lights still don't work, a fuse is likely bad, or both brake filiments.
