    Tile shower leaking
I have a tile shower in a one story patio home built on a slab. The shower backs up to to my guest bedroom and guest bedroom closet. I noticed that the bottom of the baseboard and a little of the carpet was wet so I have since not used the shower and the wetness has dried up. I am curious if I can regrout/caulk the entire shower floor and fix this problem instead of having someone come and rip out my tile and get into a major repair.
    Thanks,

    Hi Epnsc

At this point, you really aren't sure that the leak is coming from the tile/drain/pan VS the water pipes to the shower valve, right, or are you?

To determine if the shower valve/water pipes are the issue run water from the shower head into a 5 gallon bucket (dump down toilet or use to water your plants) and see if that leak pops up again. If so, you know the leak is involved with the shower valve/water pipes.

If no water issue, then next you'll want to check all the existing caulk/grout lines, especially by the shower doors (if present)... could be a simple repair as you'd hoped!

Otherwise, it is doubtful that the issue can be resolved with a simple recaulk/regrout as it is possible that the shower pan has failed... as you know a real big deal here!

Hope that helped a little! Questions? Let me know, OK?

Maybe someone has some insight. I just redid a tile shower floor. My first one. I feel I did everything correct but have a leak. It seems the water is coming from around the drain body when I look from below(it's damp right by the edge of the drain body). I tore the existing tile, lead pan,...
