Laundry tub leak that requires turn off all water to house
I have an old laundry tub (house built in 1964) in the basement that the washer drains into. The faucet has developed a streaming leak that will not stop unless I turn off the entire water supply to house. So, I only turn on the water for showers, dishwasher, etc... then turn our water off again. There is a turn-off valve for the laundry tub/washer, but turning it off does not stop the leak. Am I doing any damage by turning the main water supply off and on again?

You could be IF the shutoff is an older style shutoff... may not turn back on for you one of these times... ;) That could be a very costly issue for you!

Call a plumber in to fix the leaky faucet... usually a pretty quick fix in most cases.
