    Must a switch controlled outlet be GFCI?
    In my kitchen under my sink I found an outlet that didn't seem to work until I realized it was controlled by a switch up next to the window.I am assuming... it is for a garbabe disposal. At some point someone put in a single outlet [round kind]. Anyway, is this outlet supposed to be GFCI, which it isn't. And, just out of curiosity can a GFCI adaptor be used, it's not like it's on all that often?

    It does not need to be GFI protected.

    Oops, I just realized what that seemed to say. By the way, I have one outlet on a counter top 8 ft across the room from the sink counter top. Does that have to be GFCI? Maybe I will have to change an outlet..

    Any kitchen above counter receptacle needs to be GFI protected.
