What is the easiest way to adopt my nephew?
I have had My Nephew sense he was 5 months old and awarded permanent guardianship when he was 10 months old! He will be 4 in November. His biological parents have not made any attempt through the court to see or talk to him. The only attempt's that have been made were by his father and those were threats towards me.
My Husband and I would like to adopt him but from what I understand the price of adoption is expensive. Does anyone know of the easiest and least expensive way to adopt? Thank you in advance for your responses!

Both parents have to consent to adoption. You NEED it to be legal in every way. I would not attempt an adoption without an Attorney.

The least expensive way is to "shop around" for an experienced Attorney and ask the hourly rate as well as an estimate for the number of hours.

I can not get a hold of either of his biological parents. They are both drug addicts and do not have a permanent residence. Can I do all of the court paperwork myself? When I fought for guardianship of him they did a home investigation and all of that. Do we have to do another one?

You want to make this as ironclad as possible. And that means an attorney. At least to prepare the petitions. You don't want either parent or a grandparent or other relative to show up and claim the child.

Well the good thing is My Step-Dad is an attorney, They will prepare all of the paperwork for me! The only problem is that they live over a thousand miles away and are very busy, so I will have to do all court appearance's myself. The Grandfather on the mother's side is who lost the guardianship case against me, Due to drug raids at his home and illegal activity. My parents are on myside and the maternial grandmother has lost all of her children to the state. So that is not going to be a problem!
