    treatments for scoliosis
Hi I'm 18 and I have been diagnoised with scoliosis at the age of 15 almost 16. When I was first referred to the orthopaedic doctor she told me that there isn't much they could do, as I'm not in pain and its not affecting my daily life. She took X-rays from my back and identified it was an S curve, but when I asked her about the degree of curve she couldn't give me a define answer. So a year later I went back for a check up, she basically said the same thing and how I'm turning 17 soon I would stop growing. Therefore the curve would also stop growing. She then discharged me from the hospital. So my question is there any treatments other than surgery I could correct or minimise the way my back look uneven?

    Thanks in advance

There is, unfortunately, no known reason for scoliosis. You are at the prime age for development. Some chiropractors claim they can straighten but I take that with a BIG grain of salt. My son in laws Scoliosis, as a teenager, was so severe it started to cause other problems and they did surgery and rod insertion. Everything I learned, through him, was that unless it becomes a problem, you have yearly X-rays and tracking but little can be done to straighten the spine. Mayo Clinic Website has a lot of information on Scoliosis. You are obviously well informed as to age related development so hopefully your case will be minimal-Keep the faith!!
