If it's a sealed beam lamp, like I have in my 93 and 89, it's a pain in the a$$. Maybe by 2001 they've changed the setup.

If it's a semisealed bulb, and I hope it is, it is easier.

For mine (sealed beam), I have to remove the radiator grill on the front of the truck by removing the clips that hold it in place.

Then you remove the screws holding the headlight retaining ring, take out the headlight and unplug the whole unit.

If it's a semisealed beam you only need to replave the bulb. This can be done without removing the entire headlight assembly... and should just be one where you reach inside the engine compartment and turn the locking bulb retaining ring. Then pull the bulb out of the socket and disconnect.

Check your manual for headlamps or if you just can't find it, id go to a car parts store. Lots of them are good about selling you the part and then they'll help you if it's a pain to figure out.
