Here's some background:

I met this guy in one of my classes this year. He's a year older than me and I decided to take this human rights type class that's a grade 12 course (I was in grade 11, he was in grade 12) so I met him like that. At the beginning of the year I had absolutely no idea who he was, but when the semester started I got to know if him a bit, at first I just thought he was a really nice intelligent guy... but by November/December I started to develop feelings for him as we got a bit closer (part of our class is to make a plan that can benefit less fortunate people and the class will choose 2-3 to implement, both of our projects were chosen). Well when the semester ended I was kind of disappointed but he ended up being in my acting class as well, it was a split class with a couple of grade 12 for a directing class.

In May I ended up going to the prom with my sister and a few friends and my sister let it slip to our table that I liked him and then they all proceeded to give me advice. Later in the night me and my sister were outside in the courtyard for some fresh air and the guy I like was there, he came over and all of us started talking and he mentioned how he hadn't gotten a picture with any of us so he said "Hey Alice get over here, lets get a picture!" with a big grin on his face. The thing is he didn't ask anyone else except me, everyone else had to ask him for pictures.


Well towards the end of the year a couple of my friends that knew about my feelings were saying I should tell him since he was graduating this year and what
Not, so I decided I would tell him when the time came. The only things is I planned on telling him after school on the very last day, so my friend asked him to meet "a friend" after school but he was busy so he told her to get the person to call him... well I chickened out and she ended up telling him for me, and she told me what he said..

He said and I quote from my friend, "that he needs to get over someone before he can date again. But that he's seriously flattered and thinks your amazing. And that he still wants to he friends with you. He said nothing will change and he hopes you guys will still be close"

Well a week later when I was coming home from the movies I passed his work and he was outside only I didn't notice him until he called out my name.

Basically my question is: Is there any hope for me? Or should I just move on?

I feel like there might be but I'm not 100% sure

Ask him details about who he needs to get over and why it will let him know you care ask him to go somewere with a group of friends after that try setting up plans with another couple so it will be like a double date and during that time he will decide if he likes you or not. Works 100% of the time. P.S Theirs always hope opinions can be changed as easily as feelings but people never change.

Thank you for replying. The only thing is I don't know if I should ask him while it could show him that I care, a part of me feels like it might come off as if I'm prying or like I don't believe what he said and that it was just an excuse. Also we don't have a lot of common friends so I don't know how that would work out..
