    F-1 student tax form
    Hello,
I'm an international student on an F-1 student visa and I've been here since August 2006. I did not work this year at all while in the US. However I do receive a scholarship from the university I'm studying at. Also, I've been in the US 2 years ago as an exchange student on a J-1 visa from August 2004 to June 2005. What kind of tax form should I file? Do I include the scholarships that I receive from my university in there as taxable income?
    Thanks,

    VBboy

You need to fill out a 1040NR. It's hard to explain exactly how your scholarship will be reported -- see the 1040NR instructions. Basically, you will not be taxed on the scholarship component used for fees, tuition, textbooks. You will be taxed on the part used for room and board or other such purposes.
