    Am I responsible?
I am currently renting a house. The owner hasn't done anything from the time we leased it. No smoke detectors, they took the lawn mower so we can't mow, I am a disabled veteran so I really can't anyway. They will not provide any waste removal, and say we are responsible, I am in the county of Texas. Are they wrong or am I?

They also haven't changed out the locks.NO one came and checked if the electric, water, plumbing etc is OK, in which I have had to fix a lot of it.

What does your lease say about all of this.

In all of my house rentals

    1. trash is never included you have to pay for your own trash service. Smoke detectors are required by my local law, if they are required there, report it to the zoning or code enforcement. Law mowers, I never have ever furnished one, was it promised, I expected the tenants to mow their own yards, If they let it grow high I would mow it and change them for it as a violation.

Also who do you think is gong to check your electric or water or plumbing you check it, if you want it checked before you move in. IF you mean to fix something, what needed to be fixed ?

And why should they change locks ?
