    building a platform for a walk-in shower
My wife has been diagnosed with Metastatic Bone Cancer. We have gone about making the home as safe as possible. We have a 5 Ft x 5Ft walk-in shower. To make it safer and more accessible we have replaced the original tile with porcelain tile to provide for more texture and better grip. We have removed the door and replaced it with a shower curtain to allow easier access and egress. The shower has a 5 1/2 inch step-Down. We expect a wheel chair will be required at some point in the future. Our thought is to build a platform of composite material to address this issue. I would certainly like to hear from others with more expertise than me to provide me with some thoughts.
