Call a professional... no you can't do it yourself. You can't even buy what you will need yourself. It takes a license.

What type of system and where, is it a air condition system, a evapuation system.

Low on fuel ? Is it not electric is it propane powered ?

If this is a air condition system unless you have the proper equipment and a license to buy the freon you can not do anything. Next since you don't know about what it is, you don't know about high and low pressure settings and more.

Plus it could be other issues you don't know
