I am 24 and have been sexually active since I was 15. I had my first pap smear a few months ago (something I am absolutely kicking myself for for not doing earlier and regularly) and it can back abnormal and I am at category 3. I am so scared that it's cervical cancer. I am pregnant atm and have two baby girls who are two and one. My doctor told me not to stress if it was really bad she would tell me. I have to get a colposcopy to check the cells. She did not say I had hpv, would that show up on a regular std test? And would it show up on a pap test? I am so frightened that it is cancer as it had been ten years since I first had sex and I know it is a slow forming cancer so I guess it has had time to change to cancer by now. I feel as though my doctor is sugar coating things and I hate the feeling that she is doing that. Any form of a response would be great. Even if it's not what I want to hear.

I'm going through a similar situation! Just got an abnormal pap and have a colposcopy scheduled for next week. I'm freaking OUT. Not sure what to think or expect. My doc hasn't explained the details of my abnormal pap but when I go in next week I'll be sure to get all the info. I feel so nervous and confused! I've had normal paps for the past two years. I even had a normal one in Feb. in thinking about getting a second opinion. Seems like this came out of no where!
