2001 Honda Accord with squeaky front end
My 2001 Accord has a loud squeaky sound from just inside the front right wheel when crossing a bump or steering. It used to only occur on very cold days (20 degrees or less), and mostly over bumps and driveway aprons, now it is over every bump, and every turn of the steering wheel and louder. The car still steers well and is well aligned. Any ideas on whether repair is needed, and if the car is safe to drive?

The sway bar links likely are shot--common problem on Hondas. They are also easy to replace, just ensure they are torqued to spec; otherwise, they will make noise.

After the sway bar links, I would focus on the struts. Try replicating the noise by strongly pressing down on the right front fender several times. If it's bad, you should replace both front struts. Should the problem persist, focus on the lower ball joints. Every 125,000 miles, I recommend replacing lower ball joints and outer tie-rod ends. On FWD cars, if the lower ball joint breaks, the whole front wheel and steering knuckle can be ripped off the car; therefore, check them very carefully. I prefer Moog suspension parts. They are extremely well-made, come with a lifetime warranty, and will return the new-car ride to your Accord.
