    Hipaa violations against employees
Is there a violation against an emplyee talking derrogatory to other employees about one another? What I am asking is, Is there a law that protects one employee from another employee from speaking horrible about another. Especially if they have turned that person in for a hippa violation and they were proven guilty and reprimanded for it? They were punished for it then they started talking smack about that employee I mean terrible.

Can you talk smack about fellow employees? Medical information is covered by HIPAA, not anything else. HIPAA comes into play when medical info is revealed without the consent of the patient.

If the company punished you for reporting a HIPAA violation that would be one issue, but an this is not a HIPAA violation, it may and most likely could be a violation of other company policy, Have you reported this behavior to HR, or supervisor

So there is no law that protects one employee from another. They can say anything they want about you whether it be true or not?

Why are you using 2 accounts? This is in violation of the site rules.

Sure there are laws. However first ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

Second, HIPAA doesn't cover this circumstance.

Third, this more often covered internally by company policy. You didn't answer whether this was reported to HR or your supervisor. And what was done.

Fourth, there are laws that cover defamation, but this is hard to prove and you much show some loss. People have the right to express their opinions. So without having an idea what "speaking horrible" or "talking smack" entails, we have a problem advising you.
