    Statutes of limitations for theft in canada
    I stole a swimsuit 15 years ago and admitted to police... can I be charged? And can they tell my empolyer?

    The SOL for theft under $5000 in Canada is 6 months.

    So, no you can no longer be charged and its unlikely the police will seek out your employer to tell them, nor would this show up on a normal background check.
