Do We Really Need A New AC Unit?
    Hey everyone, texasmom here again.

We need some help. We live in a double wide, and for the past 4 years or so, durning the summer months when it gets hot, and you all know how hot the summers have been the past few years, our electric bill would run anywhere from 400 - 500 each month. We are on a fixed income now and can not afford to pay those kind of bills.

We had a guy come and check it out for the season like we do every year and he told us that the unit on the outside was a 4-ton and the one on the inside was a 3 ton.

He also said that between both of them that they should not pull over 17-20 amps. Well, he discovered that JUST the outside unit was pulling around 38 amps itselfand together they were pulling around 52 amps.

The unit was put in when we bought the home back in 96. Should this be happening and if so what can we do to fix it besides buying a brand new one cause they cost around 4000.00

It is possible one of the electric heaters is running at the same time as the A/C unit outside.

Something is bad wrong with that system. Get another company to check it out.
