3 year and 3 months old not talking in sentences
    Hi there,

I have 3 year and 3 months old son, and he's not talking in sentences. He knows a lot of words, his vocabulary is not an issue, but its just that he's not stringing sentences.

I have taken him to three or four different doctors, including 2 specialists for children with ASD or other similar disabilities. They have said that they are "almost" sure that he doesn't have Autism Spectrum Disorder.

He loves playing with other children, shares his toys with his sister. Loves playing with other kids. Has excellent eye contact and understands most of the basic instructions. Points to the objects, and has pretty good non-verbal communication. He hit all his physical landmarks on time.

His mother was dyslexic, and she remembers that she started speaking very late. She also remembers that she had a lot of trouble with colors, which is a big sign for dyslexic people. My son also has a problem with colors. He's still not figured out if he's left handed or right handed, although he leans towards his left hand a bit more.

I can go on and on describing different symptoms but what I would like to know from other parents here is that if some other kids have similar problem. He's pretty hyper too, so I keep suspecting ADHD or dyslexia and when I'm really down, even ASD.

I've read that some dyslexic children start talking at 3-4, so its not too late according to this information.

We speak three different languages at home :(. So what can I do to help him catch up.

Many languages in the household is wondeful for later years, but my advice is concentrate on just english for now, which is the language he will be using in school if you live on the north american continent. You seem to have a mindset that he has some sort of disability when in fact his age tells me that he should not be 'stringing sentences together'. You say he has reached all of the benchmarks, so why worry about his verbal skills. From what you say in your post, he is coming along at leaps and bounds, socially as well as cognatively, for an almost four year old.

I wouldn't worry too much at this point. Especially when I read that you speak 3 languages at home (which is GREAT, by the way! ), it seems like it might naturally take him just a bit longer to sort out and make complete sentences. This will be well-worth it in the end, for sure! Just keep on reading to him, encouraging him, and giving him a bit more time In my opinion.

I will agree, stop multiple languages till the child is doing one good, differernt languages have different verb and noun usage and are very confusing at first, Also when he asks for something, so you make him say it in a full sentence ( repeat after you) before you give it to him.
