Your experience was not mine but, at any rate, my answer was incorrect.
It wasn't incorrect. The majority of women don't get an accurate result until their second missed period, sometimes even more.
I was simply stating that at 2 weeks, an accurate result is possible. Fact is, the OP could already have gotten an accurate result. She may well not be pregnant, and just had an off month instead.
I was by far not the norm. I took a pregnancy test at 4 days late with my first two pregnancies and got an accurate result almost as soon as I peed on the stick. It was confirmed the next day at the doctors office with another urine test. With my third pregnancy I was around 2-3 days late. But I have since learned that getting a positive that soon into pregnancy is rare.
The thing is, every woman is different. Some will get an accurate result very early in their pregnancy. There are others that will never get a positive result on a urine test, even late into pregnancy, when they already know that they're pregnant.
It's really a wait and see sort of thing. If you don't get a period, then test. If it's negative, wait. If you miss another period, test again. If it's negative, wait. Of course after the second missed period and a negative result, I'd really recommend seeing a doctor, getting a blood test, or asking for tests to figure out why you're missing your period. Pregnancy isn't the only thing that can delay a period.
I really just wanted to point out that at 2 weeks, a positive test when someone is pregnant, isn't that unusual, for many women. Many isn't all by a long shot. :)
