    Overflow stack
I just replaced bottom pipe in basement with PVC because it was cracked but that didn't stop the leak.It seems to be leaking from the pipe that goes out to the roof.Does that mean my over flow pipe or whatever it called is working overtime because there could be a clog somewhere. It manly leaks when you use the bathroom sink, also when someone takes a shower there is gurgling noises coming from the drain in the kitchen. The pipe that goes through your roof is the vent stack. It vents fumes, prevents siphoning in traps and gurgling. There should not be water in this pipe. Since you hear gurgling and there is water in the vent I'd say you have some blockage in your main drain. If there is a cleanout in the basement you should try rodding or call a pro.
