Did you use an OEM thermostat? Aftermarket thermostats are sometimes problematic. Hopefully, you filled the radiator with a 50/50 mixture of G-05 antifreeze and distilled water, adding the appropriate amount of SCA. Only use full synthetic heavy duty diesel engine oil. Ensure the supplemental transmission cooler is working properly and is sized for the job. Be sure to change the transmission fluid (ATF4+) and differential fluid (proper weight synthetic gear oil) regularly.

I have a dodge thermostat coolent is right Trans fluid is good it's when I put my chip on it over heats to about 220-230 but does not max out just get real hi

My truck also stutters I have put new air filter fuel filter batters and cables new lift pump and had fuel pump checked 2 times it's good and diesel is clean what else could it be

Are you sure the system is completely purged of water? Did you install an aftermarket chip? Many truckers have problems with aftermarket chips.

I suspect the chip is the problem--is it optimized for power or fuel mileage? You cannot have it both ways. I suspect for mpg. I'm not a fan of most aftermarket chips.
