New home owner with old plumming problems
 I am a new homeowner 4 months Texas. Does the old owner have any responsibility to the repair of my pipes in the slab?

I have Leaky pipes in the slab that are lifting the hardwood flooring. The pipes that need repair are in the slab and extend the full length of the home.
Removing them for repair will also destroy the flooring and some cabinets.
I believe that it is going to cost 10 of thousands of dollars to repair.

The home was leveled a few months before I purchased the home. The homeowner was not actively livening in the home for several months before the sale.

Is this a claim that they can have the old insurance company cover? Or since I purchased the home from a relocation company - Oil company - do they have any responsibility in this.

    Hello wd:

If the old owner knew of the problem but failed to disclose it you, then he's liable. Since he didn't live there, you're going to have a hard time proving that he knew about it.

Did you have a home inspection? If you did, and the inspector didn't pick it up, you may have a claim against him.

Will his old insurance cover it? You got to be kidding.

The old owner is the relocation company, no? We covered that.

Did you buy a homeowners warranty? Probably not.

Sorry, wd. I don't think you have a claim against anybody.
