I moved from Kansas City to Vista California 5 years ago to help take care of my obese aunt, and to help my dad take care of my grandmothers house he inherited. A few years ago I had seemingly nice neighbors move in, but when they found out I am gay I have had to hear so many insults, and have been scared to go down that street if I am alone.

This man has come to me multiple times trying to get me to go to his church, he has yelled across the yards “what do you plan to do about Jesus today? I just got an update and he is coming soon; I just don’t want to see good people perish.” The last time I let him come up to me, he snuck up on me and my girlfriend as we were walking down the street to go have dinner with my family at my aunts, there are no street lights on that street, all I heard were flip flops behind me. When I turned and saw him, he appeared to have heard us laughing while he was sitting eating his dinner as he was still chewing his food, and he felt he just had to tell me that he was really battling loving thy neighbor. After sneaking up on me I asked him the next day to please keep his religion to himself, that he was obsessive, and he scared me, and he was no longer welcome to share his thoughts with me.

Since then, he has kicked over my plants because they were touching a railroad tie between the yards, he has attached some fence covering on our fence so my finches couldn’t get sun light, he saw me coming down the street and chased me into my driveway screaming an inch from my face “In the name of Jesus Christ, Stop playing with fire’ because he accused me of throwing a lit cigarette in his yard, while trying really hard to get me to go on his property to see it, and I wouldn’t. Now he is calling my father and giving my dad the idea he is getting a restraining order on me to keep me off that street, essentially using the law to harass me. I have done nothing wrong, when he stands in his driveway glaring at me as I pull in or out I flip him the bird (immature I know) so he will not do that, I have cussed him out in an effort to get him off the property and out of my personal space, but I have done nothing to deserve this. I don’t know what to do?!

Confess your sin and repent ?

Your neighbor can in his own yard or even on the side walk, state his religious views, guess what it is a freedom of speech. Many people believe that living a homosexual life style, ( having homosexual sex) is a serious sin, and want to help save others.

If it is his fence, on his side, he may put a cover over the fence,

He is not cursing at you, or threatening to harm you, he will just keep talking to you, being scared is just a over reaction, since he would not do you harm, he merely wants you to hear about Christ and be saved from your sin

This is ridiculous. You need to put a restraining order on him. Do not give him the finger that makes it worse. Tell him with force that if he does not leave you alone you will take further action in the legal system.

This may qualify as a bias crime. You should talk to your local police or prosecutor about it.
