[CIVIC 90]

Hello,

I have a 1990 Honda Civic EX with 145,000 miles. It has a 1.5 liter engine with a manual transmission and fuel injection. I'm unsure what is wrong with it and need some help.

The car intermittently starts, when it does start it idles fine but when I rev it up it stalls out and hesitates when under 3,000 rpm but above 3,000 rpm it runs smooth.

The times when it does not start, the engine turns over and cranks for a few seconds, the engine then kicks but when it does kick it almost seems like it's kicking in reverse as the engine comes to a halt and makes a funny sound out of the exhaust

I looked at the ECU and when the ignition is turned on it just blinks once showing no faults.

I cleaned the IACV but there is still no change.

When I turn the ignition on I hear the main relay click and the fuel pump run and the relay click again.

Be sure and check/replace igniter and coil--Autozone will do this for free.
