    Shower drain
I am in the process of adding a custom walking shower after removing my old tub. My question is do I cement around completely the new drain before letting the plumber install the new floor for the shower? I am getting different answers from several handymen.

Ill this custom tile shower be installed on a slab or in a upper floor? This "new floor" you're talking about. Would that be the shower pan? Unless I've misunderstood your entire post you won't be cementing around any drain. The plumber will first install the bottom half of a flange type shower drain, (see image) and then set the shower pan and install the top half of the drain. By the way you could have dropped in a conversion tub to shower base,(see image) is there any reason that you didn't? Back to you, Tom
