What else is discharging into the pit? Look in the pit, is ground water entering? The bang you hear is probably the check valve slamming shut. Back to you. Tom

    Hi Napertim

As Tom said, the bang you hear is the check valve... and that is relatively normal. As you know, what isn't normal is the cycling of the pump every hour when the fixtures aren't being used.

The first thing I would have you check is to see if the flapper at your toilet is letting water leak by and is slowly filling your ejector pit. To test this, take 20 drops of a dark food coloring and drip it into the toilet TANK. If the colored water shows up in the toilet BOWL over the next half hour then you have probably found the problem at the flapper. In the case of a leaking flapper you'd just replace the flapper with a new one to resolve the leak/cycling issue.

If the toilet isn't leaking then as Tom suggested, ground water is the next thing to check... open ejector pit and check water level every 15 minutes, etc... ;)

    Back to you...
